Our man on the Left Coast, Jim Palam, spends a fun day at a laid-back car show that raises money for a worthy cause.
Some 90 miles North of Santa Barbara, CA is the bucolic Madonna Inn Meadows, a lakeside park in San Luis Obispo that hosts an annual Concours to benefit the local Hospice. Not your typical “stuffy” high-end Concours, the event is a cross between a traditional Concours and friendly car club show. Last Sunday was a picture-perfect day and I couldn’t think of a better destination to go cruising in my restored Triumph TR6.
San Luis Obispo Blues Society celebrity and MC, Bill Newell, above, brought his pristine
metallic green ‘62 Sunbeam Alpine.
The first Morgan “3W” delivered to California. It’s a 2012 model SS V-Twin.
A gorgeous and sleek, deep-rose-colored ’96 Porsche Carrera 4S.
Beautifully restored vintage ‘67 T120 Triumph Bonneville.
Bright silver ‘99 Anniversary Edition Mini.
Curvy ‘66 Mark X Jag that looks like a big white cloud!
Larry and Barbara Long’s wonderfully preserved ‘33 MG J2.
