CLASSICS, CUSTOMS & HOT RODS: WHEELS & WAVES!

Since 1999, hundreds of head-turning cars & trucks have been displayed at the Wheels & Waves Car Show in Santa Barbara, CA. Our Jim Palam was on site.

This year was the 14th annual Santa Barbara show and more than 350 exceptional enthusiast vehicles were on display on State Street, between Micheltorena and Guiterrez in downtown Santa Barbara. As in the past, Wheels & Waves was free for spectators, attracting locals, tourists and visitors from abroad. Chopped & channeled '49 Plymouth coupe, above, is owned by JR & Dee Dee Washburn. Even Elvis was there!

One of the more outrageous cars was Mike Rolifson’s ’39 Ford custom/rod powered by a Corvette LS1 small-block and coated with blinding orange/gold PPG custom paint.

Mike DeVorak bought his '66 Mustang new and converted it into street & track car, powered by a supercharged engine complete with Bug Catcher intake. Resto-Mod styling is eye-catching.

John Friese's '67 Amphicar, at home on the road and crossing a lake, is powered by a Triumph Herald Four with just 43 horsepower. It's road & water-worthy!

Stunning Iso Grifo is one of 412 built, powered by Corvette small-block

Dennis Sellen's head-turning '72 Pantera is powered for go and detailed for show.

Produced by the Wheels & Waves Foundation, proceeds from the show supports a number of local charities and organizations, including Page Youth Center, Progeria Research Foundation, Goleta Lions Service Club, and others. It's a show that offers something for everyone.
