FORD GT: WORLD’S FASTEST STREET CAR!

Street-legal ’06 Ford GT is first car in full street trim to break the 250-mph Standing Mile; hits 283 mph and sets Guinness World Record.

Records are made to be broken and nobody knows that better than Johnny Bohmer, West Palm Beach, FL, who set the Guinness record as well as the IMRA (International Mile Racing Association) Street Legal Class record. That was on October 16, 2012 on the Space Shuttle runway at the Kennedy Space Center, Cocoa Beach, FL. This spring he plans on running his twin-turbo GT for the record again; this time the target is 300 mph!

“It took me 21 seconds to cover the standing mile, hitting 283.232 mph, and burning five gallons of fuel,” said Bohmer, below, owner of Performance Power Racing, a high-tech high-performance tuning and fabrication facility in West Palm Beach.

A turbocharging and exotic materials specialist, Bohmer feels that his almost 3,900-pound, 1,800-horsepower twin-turbo GT has a potential top speed of 340 mph and has already covered the Standing Mile at over 283 mph. In street trim with fully functional air conditioning and audio system, the mega-powerful GT can sprint to 150 mph in 7.4 seconds and generate 1.3-Gs lateral acceleration, according to its builder.

While Bohmer tows his GT in an enclosed trailer to competition events, he often drives it to local area shows. And as you can imagine, turns a lot of heads – especially when they see the drag chute and BADD GT license plate!

NOTE: Special thanks to my Facebook friend Robert Brown for supplying the photo of the GT's rear with chute taken at a local show and some information about Johnny Bohmer’s BADD GT.
