Ford built 2005 & 2006 GTs, but one of the five GTs at the Life of Riley Foundation SECA Show in Sarasota, FL, on Sunday, is a 2004 model.
When I showed my Tungsten Ford GT at the SECA car show yesterday, I never expected to be parked next to a piece of GT history: 2004 Ford GT CP4 Development Mule! Most development and prototype cars rarely ever leave the carmaker with paperwork that can be used for registration. Some are crushed; others parted-out or donated to museums. This all-black Confirmation Prototype 4, built on chassis #0007, was an aerodynamics, suspension and handling prototype, the first to be clocked at over 200 mph (at the Ford Proving Grounds).
The Life of Riley Foundation puts on an annual specialty car show to promote awareness of pediatric brain tumors, raise money for a cure and provide support to families going through diagnosis and treatment. For more information, please visit

Signed by 15 Ford GT test engineers, the solid black prototype has a variety of non-production features and lots of documentation. It had been in a museum since the GT went into production and is now at Vintage Motors of Sarasota.
