The 45th annual Concours hosted classics, exotics, hot rods and coachbuilt creations, including the’67 Ferrari Gatto built by Steve Moal, below.
The inaugural edition in 1967 of the Concours d’Elegance was called the "El Palo Alto Concours" and was held in the parking lot at Town & Country Village. It attracted only a handful of cars --- and lost $1,400. There was serious discussion of abandoning the event. Cooler heads advised patience and, with help from dedicated community leaders like George Paddleford, the Northern California Concours survived.
For the next six years, shows were held at El Camino Park and enjoyed relatively better success. Fast forward almost half a century and the Palo Alto Concours at Stamford University is now one of the finest showcases of traditional concours classics as well as coachbuilt customs and hot rods on the West Coast.
