ISO RIVOLTA: ITALIAN STYLING, MOTOWN MUSCLE!

Renzo Rivolta’s legacy of great GT cars celebrates its golden anniversary.

The original Iso, under the direction of Renzo Rivolta, pioneered the worldwide marketing of Italian designed, engineered and manufactured Grand Touring and sports cars powered by high performance small & big block Chevrolet and small-block Ford V8s. Piero Rivolta officially started his tenure at Iso in 1961, serving on the Rivolta GT product team. He later took over the company when his father passed away. The two-plus-two 1962 Rivolta GT was the first Iso Grand Touring car. They produced 799 GTs from 1962 to 1970. It was followed by the Grifo-Bizzarrini A3C, stunning Grifo, two-plus-two Lele and the four-door Iso S4 & Fidia.

Piero Rivolta relaunched the Iso Grifo brand in 1993 in Modena, above, with Rivolta GT, and recently that car has been produced in very limited numbers as the Grifo 90. Piero’s still connected to the specialty automotive business as his daughter, Marella and son-in-law, Andrea Zagato, run prestigious Zagato Design.

Could there be a new Grifo coming?
